Default 'Auto' printer driver?

Why does XP install an auto printer driver when it finds
a printer on a network?

Can't find any relative inforamtion explaining anything
about it.

Default Re: 'Auto' printer driver?

Explorer has the ability to go out and make connections to all print and
file shares so you do not have to (and as in
your case, do not want to). But you have the ability to disable this.

Open any shell folder window
Tools / Folder Options
View Tab
uncheck
Automatically search for network folders and printers
OK

I think you need to delete any connections that the explorer has already
made.
