Default Fax Log

I've recieved faxes using Home XP for about 3 months.
Today for some reason, I cannot see the fax log, it
appears briefly when I hit the refresh, then disappears.
I've tried closing down everything that uses memory
thinking maybe my ram was 'full', still no success. Any
ideas?

When you open the fax consul, there is a list of faxes
that came in for the day. ie: Fax Log. Once you see
the fax that needs to be viewed, double click on the fax
in the inbox and then it can be viewed. However, today
the 'log' does not appear in the in box.

Default Re: Fax Log

By default all faxes older than 90 days will be deleted from the Inbox
Folders. This is by design.

In order to persist the faxes that you have recieved can do the one of the
following:-
1) Save a fax as soon as it is recieved in an altenate folder. To set the
folder in which you want to save a recieved fax do the following:-
a) Open the Fax Console(Start->All
programs->Accessories->Communications->Fax->Fax Console)
b) Go the Tools menu and select Fax Properties menu options.
c) Go to "Devices" tab
d) Select the "Properties" Button
e) Go to the "Recieve" tab on the window opened.
f) Select the check box "Save a Copy in Folder" and put the path of a
Folder in which you want to save your faxes. (Note that the folder should
already exist)
g) Apply the settings and exit the configuration whidow.

2) The other option is to save the faxes on a per need basis. As and when
you view th fax in the Fax Console(your fax Log). If you want to save a
particualr fax you can Right-Click on it in the console and select the "Save
As..." option in the right click menu to save it in a folderr.

Then we have no way to troubleshoot. Faxes do not disappear for no reason.
Do you have more than one user logon? What do you see here:
<drive>:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows
NT\MSFax\

I've never seen this in Windows XP Home. Moreover the Help Files say:
"In an environment where you are using only a local fax device, a fax
remains in the archive folder until you delete it."

Default Re: Fax Log

Lets see, did I say the faxes disappear? There seems to
be some misunderstanding here. The fax files are still
on the pc, the log of the faxes is what is not visable.

Again, its not the actual fax file that is missing, it is
the log of the faxes that came in.

In addition, to the other person who answered, my faxes
are not kept for more than 60 days. The 90 day default
is not an issue either.

OK, you're losing me more effectively with every post. Explain how you knew
the "fax log" disappeared yet you knew the faxes were still there.
