Hi;
I am not unsympathetic to your problem but I am not sure how I can help. I see three possibilities: 1. Recovery CD-Find your recovery CD using whatever assistance you can muster; or locate someone with the same make/model 'puter and get a copy; or purchase a replacement. I probably don't live close enough to you nor know you well enough to be able to help find the CD; I don't have that make of computer let alone model; don't have any spare cash this month. 2. Full-install XP- Purchase a copy of the CD and use that. Probably the most expensive option. Sorry, I don't have a spare XP license I can transfer to you and I don't have any spare cash .... 3. 3rd party fax software. Get a fax software package. I would be worth checking Tucows or the like for freeware or low cost software. I can't guarantee that somewhere during the install of the package you might be asked to install your XP disk so the installer can get some files. However, that is less likely now that a few years ago since recovery disks became more common. Then there are full-commercial packages like WinFax Pro. I don't know how well it works. And it is about $100. US. You might be able to find it discounted somewhere. And I don't have ... Never mind. I already said that. Don't suppose you could...? Nooooooooooo, never mind. Put away your wallet... just kidding... really. Really! No! Joking with you. C'mon ... go rotate the tires on your truck and have some coffee. With tongue-in-cheek, I remain -- Tom MSMVP PS-D "maryb" <david.brown90@btinternet.com> wrote in message news:083501c3779a$493ab900$3101280a@phx.gbl... can anyone help me I have had to have my microstar 2660 restored to factory setting by pc world now I cant get fax set up because my recovery cd has gone "missing" this has been going on for 3 months back and forth with pc world now they say I have to pay them £20 for a new one!!! |
