Spooler SubSystem App

I keep getting an error message, "Spooler SubSystem App
encountered a problem and needed to close." I am using
Windows XP and this came up after I tried to uninstal an
Epson 820 printer. I have not been able to install any
new printers or re-install the Epson without getting this
error message. I cannot print either. I'm dead in the
water. I tried reinstalling XP but that didn't get rid of
the problem. Any suggestions?
