Friends, many of my jpegs open fine. But a number of them give me the
message in my Subject line. I have no idea why! I can email them to others using the same operating system (WinXP home) and the jpegs open just right. This is a new computer. Why can I open some jpegs and not others? Any suggestions appreciated! -- Bob Boudewyns pastor@wbbethany.org |

You say it's a new computer...are you opening the files from your hard drive or from a CD? Have any of these files been received from someone with an AOL account? -- John Inzer Picture It! Thanks for the response, John!
Well, I'm not using a camera myself, but my friends send me pictures in jpg format and they open well. The one that I am especially concerned about just now that won't open is a logo produced for me by a commercial company using Adobe Photoshop. I am opening it from my hard drive. It was emailed to me (not using AOL) and when I double click on it the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer tries to open it and gives me the above error. Other graphics programs give me the same error. I've had it resent to me and with the same result. I send the file on to others using WinXP and they open it with no problem. (Two others people.) I have used AOL in the past and the program is on my computer. I'm guessing that some basic functionality of my system is messed up. I've run the windows update process and still no joy. Any suggestions appreciated! -- Bob Boudewyns pastor@wbbethany.org "John Inzer" <oobie@doobie.xyz> wrote in message news:e8fhd5ZrEHA.896@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... | Bob Boudewyns wrote: | > Friends, many of my jpegs open fine. You say your recipients can view the files. I'm thinking that since an image attached to an e-mail message is a copy of the original.....have you tried making a copy and viewing it? Also...it may be worth a try to drag/drop the file into any Internet Explorer window. It doesn't matter what is in the window. The file may open... -- John Inzer Picture It! Hello, I had the same problem, and would be grateful for replies when you find the solution please. I have jpegs with invalid marker type displayed when opening them. I appreciate this, bless you.

I had the same problem. Instead of opening the files directly in photoshop, I was able to open them in Microsoft Photo Editor and do a save as with a different name somewhere. After I saved the files somewhere else, I was able to open them in photoshop.
I hope this helps -Logan |

I have also been getting this error on occasion but not with my photos.. I've been getting it when creating patterned "digital scrapbook papers". But it's not all of my patterns.. it seems to be happening when I create and define my own patterns and then fill the canvas with said pattern. I'll save it as a print quality jpg and then when I try to reopen the image I get this error. It's pretty irritating since I do this for a living. Any suggestions?
