Last night I downloaded a driver update from Microsoft's
Windows XP Update site for VIA Technologies Inc Network Software Update (9-2-2003 release), which after scanning my system Windows Update said I needed. After the driver installed and I rebooted, I lost all network connections, including my internet connections. Luckily the problem was easy enough to fix by doing a system restore. I just wanted to know if anyone else out there has had any problem with this....I am connected to my home network and the internet through the D-Link DI-614+ wireless router. At this point, I'm just happy that thru system restore the problem was easy enough to fix. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Marcia |

Always do hardware updates from the manufacturer's website as opposed to
Windows Update. Yes, other's have similar issues with driver updates from Windows Update. Not all, not always but too often to ignore as far as I'm concerned. NOTE, those drivers are supplied by the manufacturer as well but they are usually not as full featured as the drivers direct from the website. My guess is, those for whom the drivers work don't have special needs or setup configurations that demand the fuller featured drivers. -- Michael Solomon MS-MVP Windows Shell/User Backup is a PC User's Best Friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ "Marcia" <ms_celticat@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:0e2a01c3aa00$60acb8c0$a501280a@phx.gbl... > Last night I downloaded a driver update from Microsoft's > Windows XP Update site for VIA Technologies Inc Network > Software Update (9-2-2003 release), which after scanning > my system Windows Update said I needed.
