Default Computer Re-Boot

I just installed a new Lexmark P707 printer. When I turn
my computer on or re-boot, I get a screen with the "Dell"
logo that stays on. I can't get past this screen unless I
disconnect the USB cable from the printer. I have been
told that this is a problem with XP. Any suggestions?

XP doesn't have an inbox driver for this device, but I checked the Windows
Catalog and Lexmark does have a signed driver for the P700 series printers
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ca...earch&subid=22&
sortcolumn=status&sort=descending&qu=lexmark&scope=2&page=2&pageSet=1)

When you installed the Lexmark driver, did you get a Windows dialog box
warning you that the driver you were about to install was not signed? If it
did, then you are installing an unsigned driver which means it was not
tested using Microsoft's tests to make sure the driver does indeed work for
XP - anything can happen in this case.

If it did not, then you are using a signed driver. You might want to try
getting the latest driver from the Lexmark web site. Have you tried plugging
the printer into a different USB port to see if the problem continues?

good luck!
