please help me

i just got a brand new computer with windows xp
i have clicked the button so that the taskbar will hide
inactive icons but it doesn't hide them
does anyone know why it won't hide the inactive icons and
how i can fix this?
please help me

Patience. It doesn't know something is inactive until you don't use it for a
while. Give it time and it will realize which ICONs you never use and then
archive them for you.
