registry problem

When I log on I get a message titled Desktop and the following message:

Could not load or run 'ERROR' specified in the registry. Make sure the file
exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.

I believe that the file does not exist. How do I remove the reference to it
in the registry?

Can anyone help please.
