Default WMI Corruption in Advanced Tab

I know that this is a widely-talked about problem, but the
solutions listed in this workgroup haven't fixed it yet.
I have a fresh install of WinXP Pro, all service packs and
updates. I've tried a in-place upgrade several times, but
still no good. I've noticed something as I install XP,
though...

During the install process, and error message comes up,
saying that Windows cannot find file mofd.dl_ during the
installation. I can find it on the CD and give it the
file path to its location, but upon hitting "OK", it shows
the error again. I am forced to complete the installation
without the file. I've tried recompiling the MOF files,
but that failed as well. I followed the instructions
verbatim... my Windows CD is slightly scratched, so I
think that it may be a problem.
