Hi,
![]() Can some help me understand this? My HHD wnet bad and I had to re-install on a new disk starting about 3:00 PM on the 10th. Everything went ok with three exceptions. Fist, during install I forgot to disconnect from the DSL as I am spoiled with behind the FW installs. So during the install phase there was a quick message flashed up about DCOM @#$%^& had an error and $%^&* register. Second, sure enough, before I could install the FW I got a vireus. Blaster_F. I got rid of it with Norton tool and scaned the disk twice with NAV 2003. It was clean. Third problem, I need too GPO the shared and get the shre names working again with the other puters. Now I get this message every so often (twice) USERENV Error Event 1090 Windows couldn't log the RSoP (Resultant Set of Policies) session status. An attempt to connect to WMI failed. No more RSoP logging will be done for this application of policy. I followed the sugested to do items on the link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp but I'm not sure what I was doing. My questions are: Can this be fixed, what is it trying to tell me, was it the install, the virus, or my GPO messing around? These are all Win Xp PRO with SP1 and all CUS. any help would be great as I need to know if I should start over with the install? Thank You, SlowJet |

I found to related posts from July.
open cmd.exe and type the following commands in order. %homedrive% cd %windir%\system32\wbem\repository net stop winmgmt del * /s /q regsvr32 wbemupgd.dll CMD box would not delete the files as they were being used by another process. So I booted into safe cmd prompt and the commands worked. After reboot all the tasks looked normal again BUT the error events are still there. The shares work fine, all the normal programs work. Any one with more thohts? thanks, SloJet >-----Original Message----- >Hi, ![]() > > Can some help me understand this? > >My HHD wnet bad and I had to re-install on a new disk >starting about 3:00 PM on the 10th. > >Everything went ok with three exceptions. > >Fist, during install I forgot to disconnect from the DSL >as I am spoiled with behind the FW installs. >So during the install phase there was a quick message >flashed up about DCOM @#$%^& had an error and $%^&* >register. > > >Second, sure enough, before I could install the FW I got >a vireus.
