Hi Everyone !
I did not find anywhere to go for my issue except this place. If this is not the right place, please advise. I have 5 servers 2000. I tried to install SP4 on 1 server. The install stopped and requested WinMgmt.exe which should normally be located at \WINNT\SYSTEM32\WBEM folder. Windows tells me that it exists but in fact the install cannot find it nor can I see it even though I unchecked "hide extension for unknown file types" and "hide protected OS file" from Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View. I have also typed at the command prompt: winmgmt /unregserver winmgmt /regserver In other servers I can see WinMgmt.exe in WINNT\SYSTEM32\WBEM folder. But not the server in which the installation of SP4 failed. It seems to me that WBEM folder does contain WinMgmt.exe but it is neither visible nor has it been detected during the installation. Can anyone assist me with this please ? Regards Mike |

There could be a pending file rename scheduled. - Try stopping the WMI service before running the install - Try stopping the WMI service and deleting WINMGMT.EXE, Windows File Protection should replace it with a new version from "\system32\dllcache\" Or you could run "sfc.exe /scannow" |
