It sounds like something in your transfer process didn't do right. If it
works the way it's supposed to, everything is identical, so you wouldn't be
having these problems. It would run exactly the way it did before.

You can try:

1) Do the copy over again and see if it works. You didn't mention what
program you used to do the copying, so no one can offer suggestions there.
Whatever it was, it didn't work right. Whether it was a flaw in the program,
a problem with the original or new hard drive, or something in the
execution, one can only guess.

2) Reinstall Windows to fix anything that's been corrupted there. And after
reinstalling Windows, reinstall any programs that are still problematic. If
a few things got botched in the copying, there are likely more that have
gone bad as well. Personally, I wouldn't continue with a system that's being
that unstable after a copy process. You're likely to get the immediately
obvious things fixed, then find more and more as you go on. Needless to say,
this will give you ample opportunity to blame "windows" for being a flawed
program.

3) Format the drive and reinstall it all new. That would be my first
choice.... It's pretty much the same amount of time you'll spend with #2
anyway, except that without formatting, #2 leaves you with whatever bits of
junk may be on your drive.

4) Buy an Apple. Why do people add this to their posts? Apple, Linux,
whatever, they all come with their own quirks, and I doubt switching to an
unfamiliar system requiring all new software will make your problems
magically go away. Or they'll go away and give you a whole host of new
issues. And I doubt many on this newsgroup actually care which or how many
OSs a person chooses to use. I have a Mac, I have several flavors of
Linux...so what?
