I am about to upgrade CPU, any tips?

I am about to pull out an AMD-K7 550 from my motherboard
to replace it with an AMD-K7 800. I have WinXP Home
installed and it has all the critical updates. Anything I
need to do when I restart my computer after the CPU
upgrade? Will WinXP even notice the CPU switcheroo at
all? Thanks!

JUST the CPU? Same motherboard, hard drive, video card, sound card, network
card, etc?
Windows XP should not even notice. You might.. XP shouldn't.

But - as always - Do some cleanup first and backup your files.
A nice Defragment of your hard drive(s).. a Disk Cleanup to get rid of
unnecessary files, a scandisk to check for drive problems, general stuff..
Be sure to backup your important files.. JUST in CASE.

(You never know.. You could cause a surge that shorts out your motherboard
and hard drive or something. heh)

Thanks for the tip.

There shouldn't be. Last year, I upgraded my motherboard
and chip to a Soyo/AMD combination.

There was nothing to do. XP didn't even call for a
reactivation.
