I would wager that it is the capture card. If you want good analog
captures I would recommend something along the lines of:

That gives you capability to move to digital in the future.

Blimey, that kit is £175 in the UK what a rip-off, it's only $130 in the US!
Looks great but out of my league.

I'll search around for a new capture card - thanks for the tip.
