modem usb

hi
try to install modem usb (u.s. robotics 56k faxmdem) on xpe.
i don't make (component for this moment) of modem but i install directly modem after fba on xpe, when pnp-user mode find the new hardware i select the .inf file and the xpe install my component with success.
if i try to question modem the mdem send me, if i go in control panel and watch the hardware the modem resul correctly installed.
When i try to dial sometimes the connection faild (the computer remote not answer), in other case the conection work but the speed is 296 bps.
at his moment i have some questio for you:
1) i think who the modem go in conflict with serial port it is possibile that? in this case the modem shold be not correctly installed is right ?
2) when i query modem the modem answer but is very more slow then the some hardware and windows 2000, what are the component (if there are), that can to slow the comunication from pc to modem?
3)it is possibile to have a complete list of component, for support this momdem?
i make this question on chat wimdows xp embedde but the answer for the moment don't help me, in my factory make automatic controll and the modem is very important for remote assistence. Are almost ten day that we try to work this modem but don't work. CAN WE HELP US?

Guidi, if we had the information we would have given it to you the first
four times you asked.
Give me some time and I'll work on the vampire build and see if I can sort
the modem issue for you. However, I cannot work on this during BTS's time,
and currently my personal time is taken up with sewing work which I have a
deadline for. As soon as this is done, I will get back to the Vampire, and
in the mean time, I suggest you find something else to work on.

OK.

If with serial port you mean RS-232.
Then only thing that can be in conflict is IRQ.
But your USB probably don't use IRQ 3, 4
You can see from device manager IRQ assignment. Use View: Resources by
connection.
Also if COM name was the same as RS-232 port you would have exclamation
mark.

Find properties for your modem port number assignment and see communication
speed that is set toward the modem.
There are no components that can slow your modem. It will work, or it won't
it should be simple as that.

If this is hardware modem or if it at least support 33600 in hardware, then
you have problems with settings.
Like AT command sting, or virtual port speed.

If your modem can work with only inf file without any sys files then this is
pure hardware modem. And only possible reason that will prevent it from
working is bad AT string or low speed.

If it is software modem then probably you are on your own.

But you probably don't need to add more components.
