I have successfully completed creating a BOOTABLE CD image which runs a
batch file on startup. The program will be used to update software in the field. This made sense to us since all our units have CD-ROM drives. I have now tested the CD on several targets. Some boot up fine and quick, some boot up much slower. It almost sounds like the CD-ROM drive is struggling. I tried burning the CD-ROM at a slower speed. I went from 32X to 8X and this seems to improve reliability but not completely. Could this problem be due to the software I'm using to burn the CD? I've already tried Adeptec's Easy CD Creator and Nero ( I found Nero a lot more intuitive). Perhaps there's a better one out there. Also our target PC's have two types of CD-Rom drives. One seems to be work better but I've seen problems on both. Or could it be the drive that I use to actually burn the CD. At this point not too much is making sense. I appreciate any suggestions and ideas. TIA Rick Eis |
