Default ERASE TEMP LOG FILES-Impossible to do so far

C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Temp
Highlight all of the files
Most are LOG files
Delete
File deletes, BUT, is then placed at the end as a COPY
I started with 8 files, each time I DELETE, they go to the bottom of the List
I now have OVER 1,000 temp files
How can I Delete these Temp FIles?

If it were a bug, everyone would have the problem. I just checked that
location on my system and it is empty.

Have you done a virus scan lately and have you checked for any possible
malware on your system. You can check for malware with the free utility Ad

Ok, that's a good place to start.

Have you looked at the properties of any of these temp files that are
replicating themselves. We used to have an issue similar to this with
Outlook Express and this went back to Windows 9x; not sure when they fixed
it but it was quite a pain at one time and I don't recall the cause.

Nonetheless, I'd check the properties on some of these replicated files.
I'd also check to see if an error is being generated in the Event Viewer to
coincide with when you delete these files as that might give a clue as to
the source of the issue. If you open Administrative Tools in Control Panel,
you will find Event Viewer. If you check the three sections, you may find
an error that coincides with the deletion. If you do, double click the
error, the information within might give a clue as to the source of the
issue. It would be an event that appears at roughly the same time as when
the copy appears.

Michael, Thank You..Have never used Event Viewer [I'm a Novice]..however..
In System I did find one Error that kept repeating. It read: "The
Application Management service terminated with the following error:
The specified module could not be found."
Most of my attempts at Deleting various Temp entries, lead to multiple copies!

XP is a little touchy to mouse movements compared to other versions of
Windows. If you move the mouse at the wrong time, you can end up with
copies of files that you did not want. Using some of the methods described
by Cari (using file menu's Delete instead of dragging or right clicking,
for example) or using Disk Cleanup are methods to avoid this. Another
method is to highlight the files and then press Delete on the keyboard.
