Default smtp problems

I have windows xp and I am starting to think that their is a problem with
this program. I cannot reply to messages using the Outlook. I keep getting
an error that states:

The host 'smtp' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly. Account 'http' server 'smtp' Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, secure (SSL) No. Socket Error, Error Number: 0X800CCC0D. I have a
contract with Dell Computer for hardware and software advice - but the line
is always busy. I held on the phone today for 1 hour and never did get help!
Hope someone out there will be able to help me!!

Default Re: smtp problems

If you have a firewall, check its logs to be sure it's not blocking SMTP or
outgoing or something along those lines. If it's not the firewall, this
error is almost always associated with one of two things. One, either you
have not properly setup the account or properly input the account
information, for help with that, you need to talk to your ISP or two, the
ISP is having a problem. Such ISP problems rarely last more than a day so
if this has been ongoing, it suggests you have not properly input your
account information.
