Hi,
I'm not able to start windows, it's stuck on a reboot loop. How can I find the windows XP product ID? Microsoft online help needs that ID in order to help me. I have the product key, but no product id. Thanks for your help, |

Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select "Last known good configuration" at the menu. If that resolves the issue, you are done. Otherwise reboot tapping F8 each second. Select Safe Mode at the menu. Right click My Computer Click Properties Look for the 20 digit number under "Properties." If Windows XP is OEM, Microsoft will not help. In that case contact the seller. Or post details of exactly what is happening and someone here may be able to help. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/ "Hopele$$" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7ccf01c4954b$413dc6f0$a501280a@phx.gbl... > Hi, > I'm not able to start windows, it's stuck on a reboot > loop. > How can I find the windows XP product ID? > Microsoft online help needs that ID in order to help me. > I have the product key, but no product id. > Thanks for your help, |

Thanks.
It's windows XP update version (From Windows Me) that I bought from BestBuy over a year ago. I tried to re-install that windows XP last week, then I got the Blue screen of death in the middle of the install process, Memory page fault or something like that. Since I'm not able to reboot my computer with any option, it's just stuck on reboot mode, I have already tried Safe mode, last good config, etc...all those options will endup rebooting my computer. When I try to re-install Windows XP from the same CD, it's asking me to insert the CD from Windows Me, which is an OEM version from HP, and which I don't have. Somehow it doesn't recognize that windows XP was installed there. You need the CD you no longer have.
Or if you have a Windows 95/98 CD and others, they can work as qualifying media. Also if you locate the HP CD, it may not work as qualifying media because of the way HP makes their restore CDs. In that case, you would need to install Windows ME from the HP CD then upgrade from that installation. A Repair Installation may work: http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/repaxp.htm -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/ "Hopele$$" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:82d301c495b7$fb4abeb0$a501280a@phx.gbl... > Thanks. > It's windows XP update version (From Windows Me) that I > bought from BestBuy over a year ago. > I tried to re-install that windows XP last week, then I > got the Blue screen of death in the middle of the install > process, Memory page fault or something like that. > Since I'm not able to reboot my computer with any option, > it's just stuck on reboot mode, I have already tried Safe > mode, last good config, etc...all those options will endup > rebooting my computer. > When I try to re-install Windows XP from the same CD, it's > asking me to insert the CD from Windows Me, which is an > OEM version from HP, and which I don't have. > Somehow it doesn't recognize that windows XP was installed > there. > > Thanks for your help > >>-----Original Message----- >>Reboot tapping F8 each second. >>Select "Last known good configuration" at the menu. >>If that resolves the issue, you are done. >> >>Otherwise reboot tapping F8 each second. >>Select Safe Mode at the menu. >>Right click My Computer >>Click Properties >>Look for the 20 digit number under "Properties." >>If Windows XP is OEM, Microsoft will not help. >>In that case contact the seller. >> >>Or post details of exactly what is happening and someone > here may be >>able to help. >> >>-- >>Jupiter Jones [MVP] >>http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/ >> >> >>"Hopele$$" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > message >>news:7ccf01c4954b$413dc6f0$a501280a@phx.gbl... >>> Hi, >>> I'm not able to start windows, it's stuck on a reboot >>> loop. >>> How can I find the windows XP product ID? >>> Microsoft online help needs that ID in order to help me. >>> I have the product key, but no product id. >>> Thanks for your help, >> >> >>. >> |
