After installing SP2 to XP Home, I cannot get internet
service to either Explorer or to Outlook Express (or to Norton live update). Disabling the firewall changes nothing. Allowing all exceptions in firewall settings changes nothing. I can "ping" websites and get responses perfectly, but Explorer does not display web pages nor can Outlook Express send/receive email. I have DSL through Earthlink. Is there something OTHER THAN THE FIREWALL in SP2 that interferes with access? It seems to me that since disabling the firewall changes nothing that the firewall is not the problem. When I first start the computer, I can get one page to display in Explorer, but it loads at the speed of dial-up rather than my DSL normal. And after it loads, that's it. If I try to refresh it, the page is not available. Any ideas? Worked just fine till installation of SP2. |

Hi,
check if you have another inbuild firewall like PC-illin on ur computer. that might be the cause of ur internet problems. It is usually a part of an antivirus software with the same name. -- Regards M. Rajesh ..Net and Windows Shell MVP www.winxpsolution.com.
