startup problem

when i turn on my computer i get a black screen with the
message: "windows could not start because the following
file is missing or corrupt:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
\CONFIG\SYSTEM" it says that i might be able to fix this
problem using the original cd that came with my computer;
however my computer did not come with a startup cd, is
there any way that i can fix this?
