Corruped Files

Most programs I open give Error which I have to close before the program
will open (Some files have been
corrupted,the program will not function except you reinstall it).
When I first boot up there is a notice (errors occurred synchronizing your
data) any help please.

How to run sfc (system file checker) to check for corrupt files, have your
xp cd handy.
Start>Run>(type) cmd (press enter)>(type) sfc /scannow (press enter) (notice
the space between sfc & / )

How to do a repair install, will not work with restore cd's.
