Ever since I got SP2 RC2 on my computer, the system has been eating most of
my bandwidth. I uninstalled RC2 and am still having this problem. I have Automatic Updates turned off and I even have the Automatic Updates service and the BITS service turned off, but Windows still insists on taking up most of my bandwith (56k modem... not fun). What can I do to fix this problem? (It is definitely a Windows service that is causing this because if I close the right SVCHOST.EXE in the process list, it stops and I can reclaim my bandwidth) |

First, you should be posting this to an SP2 newsgroup.
Second, the fact you close an SVCHOST.exe service that ends the issue does not mean the service is the issue. It's quite possible that something else on your system is the source and as a result is causing this issue with the service, in other words it is manifesting this way. You should start by running a virus scan on your system and also check for any malware. Make sure you AV is up to date and run a scan also, download, install and run Ad Aware, www.lavasoftusa.com. If that fails to resolve it, post your problem to SP2 beta groups. -- Michael Solomon MS-MVP Windows Shell/User Backup is a PC User's Best Friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ "User" <slipsilentlyaway@not.hotmail.com> wrote in message news:6231a$40d88cdd$d1cc41fc$12211@snip.allthenewsgroups.com... > Ever since I got SP2 RC2 on my computer, the system has been eating most > of > my bandwidth.
