unmountable boot volume

when i boot, i sometimes get a blue screen which, among other things, says
"unmountable boot volume"...if i change the IDE connections, it works, but
seems to be intermittent...anyone know whats up?

My very first thought would be that your harddrive is on its last legs.
Do you have another OS that you boot from off of that harddrive?
