Hi Weims,

Try uninstalling the game, and using a new administrators account
install the game again. If it doesn't work at first try these steps...

Here's how to uninstall a game when using Add-Remove programs fails:

Step A: Start your computer in Safe Mode by holding down the F8 key.

Step B: Reinstall the game to the same folder it was installed to originally,
and then try to uninstall it again using Add-Remove programs. If
that fails, delete it's folder and any save games in My Documents.

Step C: Install and Run Regcleaner and if it finds any stray registry keys for the
game, delete them: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download460.html

Cheers,

I've got the same problem - DOOM 3 will not recognize my admin privileges. I
tried everything you suggested and nothing works? Any more insights????

This is from this thread on my doom3 boards
(http://forums.doom3portal.com/viewtopic.php?t=798) which covered it:

"Turns out I had a corrupted net.exe file. It was infected with a trojan
horse that Norton found. Very strange that anything could get infected as I
always leave NAV and firewall enabled. I quarantined and deleted the file,
then reinstalled XP and the digitally signed drivers. The game rocks now. I
only have a P4-1.4 with 1GB of Rambus, and an ATI 9700 Pro, but I am running
at 1600 res. w/ high quality graphics and it looks and plays great. I dont
know why people think it runs slow."

Default RE: Doom 3 error

Mine now works!!

do this:

Put the first disc for the game into your cd drive.
Open my computer
Right click on the cd and select browse or explore
Locate the secdrv.sys file, right click on it and select copy
Browse into the hard drive that has windows installed
Open the windows folder
Open the system32 folder
Open the drivers folder
Go to the edit menu and paste the file into this folder

Finally got a reply from Activision and that was it and the game works fine
now.
