Application Error - Explorer.exe

Would appreciate any help here.

When I go to the Start menu and go to "My Recent
Documents", the computer freezes and the contents on the
desktop disappear for a few seconds before reappearing.
In short, I cannot navigate using the "My Recent
Documents" menu.
A window pops up that reads "Explorer.exe. - Application
Error. The instruction at "0x77f57d85" referenced memory
at "0x300036fe". The memory could not be written. Click
ok to terminate program."

Open control-panel.ADM.,event viewer.Get the specifics for the event
the Help/Support in xp is great for that because you can type in search
then click search again pertaining to last one you typed.
