Hi Tyler,
Your system is most likely restarting as a result of a STOP error. To stop this behavior go to Control Panel / System / Advanced / Click the Startup and Recovery Settings button / Uncheck the box labelled "Automatically restart" under the System Failure section. To analyse the error, try the steps in: http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm If the error indicates a file name that begins with ati, or nv (nVidia) the most likely solution would be to install the latest drivers using the instructions at: http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/Video.html#drivers -- Cheers, Windows XP MVP Shell / User Jimmy S. http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Game FAQs: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=FH;[LN];gms Visit my Zone.com / Gaming Helpsite: http://nibblesnbits.tk or Call / Contact MS Support at: http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...id=sz;en-us;top My advice is donated "AS IS" without warranty; nor do I confer any rights. _________________________________________________________ "Tyler" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:77fa01c3e77b$bf9a73f0$a501280a@phx.gbl... | when i just got two new games for my comp Halo and max | payne 2 they installed fine but when i try to play them | the screen goes black for a few seconds and then the | computer restarts i have updated the lastest graphics | drivers and i just dont get why this would happen | . | | |

Hi Tyler,
Try installing Rad Tools from Bink which includes the Codecs that those games are using. There's a good change it will resolve the issue. If not, let me know and we'll examine your video drivers. -- Cheers, Windows XP MVP Shell / User Jimmy S. http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Game FAQs: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=FH;[LN];gms Visit my Zone.com / Gaming Helpsite: http://nibblesnbits.tk or Call / Contact MS Support at: http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...id=sz;en-us;top My advice is donated "AS IS" without warranty; nor do I confer any rights. _________________________________________________________ "tyler" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7d0401c3e829$c6c9c140$a401280a@phx.gbl... | the event logger say its biwk32.dll that failed and the | maxpayne dll and halo dll are the same dll file | >-----Original Message----- | >Hi Tyler, | > | >Your system is most likely restarting as a result of a | STOP error. | > | >To stop this behavior go to Control Panel / System / | Advanced / | >Click the Startup and Recovery Settings button / Uncheck | the box | >labelled "Automatically restart" under the System | Failure section. | > | >To analyse the error, try the steps in: | http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm | > | >If the error indicates a file name that begins with ati, | or nv (nVidia) | >the most likely solution would be to install the latest | drivers using | >the instructions at: | http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/Video.html#drivers | > | >-- | >Cheers, Windows XP MVP | Shell / User | >Jimmy S. | http://mvp.support.microsoft.com | > | > | >Game FAQs: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx? | scid=FH;[LN];gms | >Visit my Zone.com / Gaming Helpsite: | http://nibblesnbits.tk or Call / Contact | >MS Support at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx? | scid=sz;en-us;top | >My advice is donated "AS IS" without warranty; nor do I | confer any rights. | >_________________________________________________________ | > | >"Tyler" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in | message news:77fa01c3e77b$bf9a73f0$a501280a@phx.gbl... | >| when i just got two new games for my comp Halo and max | >| payne 2 they installed fine but when i try to play them | >| the screen goes black for a few seconds and then the | >| computer restarts i have updated the lastest graphics | >| drivers and i just dont get why this would happen | >| . | >| | >| | > | > | >. | > |

Hi Tyler,
If those are just intro movies, locate them in the game's folder and rename them to see if you can workaround the issue and get the game started so you can play it. :-) -- Cheers, Windows XP MVP Shell / User Jimmy S. http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Game FAQs: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=FH;[LN];gms Visit my Zone.com / Gaming Helpsite: http://nibblesnbits.tk or Call / Contact MS Support at: http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...id=sz;en-us;top My advice is donated "AS IS" without warranty; nor do I confer any rights. _________________________________________________________ "tyler" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7ead01c3e869$ae213d90$a401280a@phx.gbl... | ok i figured out that the game crashes when one of the | bink files starts to play i opened the files with the bink | tools and they ran fine also i saw that when i was | disabling some programs to start on start up i turned some | other things off too one of the things that i turned off | was rundll32.exe i just saw that it was disabled and i re | enabled it but the gmaes still crashed i hope this | infomation helps to solve this problem | | thnaks | >-----Original Message----- | >Okay great! :-) I thought I had pasted that for you | sorry. | > | >Cheers, | >Jimmy. | > | >"tyler" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in | message news:7e8301c3e861$87a735a0$a401280a@phx.gbl... | >| nvm i found it | >| >-----Original Message----- | >| >where can i get rad tools?? | >| >>-----Original Message----- | >| >>Hi Tyler, | >| >> | >| >>Try installing Rad Tools from Bink which includes the | >| >Codecs that | >| >>those games are using.
