Default Hey all. I found a solution to games minimizing

First off I posted the problem about two weeks ago.
I am going to post this message a couple of times so it is not missed.

I noticed that each time the app minimized the iexplorer was running. That
led me to believe that something was trying to launch.

I found that there was a significant number of spyware programs running on
my computer. I used a program to eliminate them and the problem has not
returned since. I used spybot to do the check. If you download it remember
to do an update before doing your check. It should be looking for about
11000 different types of bots. Use the program at your own discression.

Please do not reply to this message. I will not follow it up.

If you do wish to get a hold of me email me at madlymax69@hotmail.com

Imesh's damn adware was doing this to me. It would pop-up a damn window and
either minimize or crash any game..

Besides Spybot Search & Destroy, it's also a good idea to run Lavasoft's
AdAware. Each program catches some things, that the other can't.

Default Hey all. I found a solution to games minimizing

I'm having the same problem. Happens while I'm playing
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. When I'm right-clicking
(mapped as reload weapon) while pressing either the Right
Control or Right Alt button (mapped as right or left-
strafe), the game will minimize down to the Taskbar. But
not always, just intermittenly! Infuriating! Sometimes,
it happens when I'm just right-clicking (reload weapon).
Someone, somewhere, suggested it had to do with Sticky
Keys. I've since disabled that, but the problem re-
occurs. I've no spyware installed, but do have Pop-Up
Stopper installed. What the has to do with the game
minimizing, I don't know. IExplore isn't running when I'm
playing. I always disable Norton Anti-Virus when I start
the game. No Norton Utilities installed. Just bought and
installed MOHAA Breakthrough, and the same problem occurs,
so it's not game-specific. I've even switched to an old
AT keyboard, which doesn't have the two Windows keys on
the bottom right on the keyboard, but the problem still
occured. I have the latest DirectX and ATI video drivers
installed for my Radeon 9800. This phenomenon began after
I bought a new computer with XP installed on it, never
occured with Windows ME. MOHAA is tht only game I play on
the machine, so I don't know if it would happen with a
different game.

Hi,

Are you using an international keyboard layout perhaps?
I'm thinking that the left ALT key which is known as the
ALT Gr internationally may be mapped differently than
the game expects it to be if you're not using an English KB.

Update:

Last night, I confirmed I have the most recent video
drivers installed, upgraded my Dell bios to the most
recent version and installed DirectX 9.0b. All to no
avail. Game still minimizes down to the desktop. I did
notice, though, that right before it decided to minimize,
a white arrow appears in the upper left of the screen. If
I then do either a left or right mouseclick, with the
arrow in the upper left corner, it will minimize. If I
just move my mouse around, the arrow will disappear, and
the game won't minimize. Odd. I'm thinking this is a bug
in Windows XP itself.

Not that I'm aware of. Unless XP uses the international
layout as its default. I haven't fiddled with any of that
since I got the machine about a month ago. I'll check to
confirm, tho. Also, a friend suggested I right-click on
the game's executable, click on Properties, and tell XP to
run it in Windows ME-compatible mode. Makes sense, game
never exhibited this type of behavior in ME. I'll post
the results. Thanks for the suggestion!

Well, that idea didn't work. The game wouldn't even start
when I told XP to run it in Windows ME compatibility
mode. Any other ideas?
