Hugh,

The ebu files are temporary files create for the purpose of installing games
on your system. It sounds like something is corrupting your temp files,
which could result in both the scenery read error and send error reports you
have described. Microsoft Support has a Q-Article
(http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...87&Product=gms#
appliesto) that doesn't specifically apply to FS9, but details general ebu
errors and how to work around them. I would recommed the first two steps,
which I've included below:

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Delete the Temp Folder After Your Perform a Clean Boot

When you start Windows with a typical startup, several programs start
automatically and run in the background. These programs may include
antivirus and system utility programs. Such programs may interfere with the
game and may cause the game to run slowly or unevenly. For additional
information about how to perform a clean boot, click the following article
number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

331796 Games: How to Perform a Clean Boot to Prevent Background Programs
from Interfering with Play

After you perform a clean boot, empty the temporary folder in Windows. To do
this, use the method that is appropriate for your system.

Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000
Note The temporary folder is located in each specific user folder (for
example, C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Temp). To empty
the Windows temporary folder, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type %temp%, and then click OK.
On the Edit menu, click Select All.
On the File menu, click Delete.
Click Yes when you receive the following message: Are you sure you want to
send these items to the Recycle Bin?

Try installing the game after doing a clean restart and emptying TEMP
folder. If the issue continues to occur, continue to the next Method

Method 2: Search for and remove the Ebu file.

Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition or Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft
Windows XP
In the Search for files or folders named box, type the following line:
ebu*.exe

In the Look in box, click My Computer.
Click Search Now.
Press CTRL+A to select all files.
Press DELETE.
Confirm deletion.

Try installing the game.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Nick for your help. It works but doesn't. After
doing the clean install, I can load the game but when it
starts to generate the scenery files it hangs and hangs
at different locations. When I check the error report it
shows FS9.exe and hungapp is on the other side. I've
reloaded the game 6 times and can't get it to finish. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Hugh,

Loading the scenery files also creates temp files in the same way the
install did. Try walking through the same steps and see if this allows you
to run the app. If it does, you probably want to look at what might be
corrupting your temp files. Perhaps if you have some anti-virus or
system-monitoring software turned on, you might want to turn it off before
running FS9.

Keep me posted.

Ok now it goes through the loading of the scenery files
ok. But now when I start the game the splash screen comes
up and it just hangs. I have turned off all non-
essentials and the same thing happens. This game has
worked before so I'm at a loss. Thanks again for your
help with this issue.

Default Re: no load

Hugh,

All of these issues seem to point to something corrupting the temp files on
your system.

Before we move any further, I'd like to verify that it isn't the CD rom
itself that is causing these issues. To troubleshoot the problems, use the
following methods in the order that they are presented in. If you are not
familiar with any of these steps, Microsoft Q-Article 258496
(http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;EN-US;258496) has more
detailed information.

Method 1: Clean the Disc
Method 2: Test the Disk in Another Drive
Method 3: Clean the Drive
Method 4: Perform a Clean Boot
Method 5: Run Xcopy Command
Method 6: Check Your Hard Disk for Errors
Method 7: Defragment Your Hard Disk

If you continue to have problems with FS after following these steps, please
reply with whatever results you've had and we'll continue to work on this
issue.

Default Re: no load

I finally did a repair for XP and solved a lot of the
issues. Game loads and works but reboots the computer
after about 5 minutes of play. My task this weekend is to
format the harddrive and start over. I feel this will
clear up any other issues I've had. Thanks for all your
help and if I have any more problems I'll post them. (as
long as I can get back on line)
Thanks again to everyone for their help
