I have been running Battlefield 1942 Road To Rome for many
months with no problems, I played the game last night. I used my computer to download some files from various locations this morning and when I attmpted to play BF1942 today, it caused a shutdown and restart of the machine. after isolating the cause I found the reason to be 0x0000008e(0xc0000005,0xe1abf231,0xecfc4970,0x00000000. I downloaded new drivers from NVidia and Turtle Beach and did a complete virus scan using McAfee Virus Scan Online. I then retored the computer to a point 3 days ago, reinstalled BF1942. I now get 0x000000F4 (0X00000003,0X81FC3580,0X81FC3724,0X805ACAC85)right after the windows XP screen during the 1st reboot attempt, and then get a C000021 Fatal System Error: 0XC0000005 (0X75E96003,0X0069F1DC). Then I get a normal reboot. Repeats if I try to run BF1942, can run other programs such as IE, Excel, Access, Cue Club, Spider Solitare. I need help, please! |

Hi Voyager,
I would boot from XP CD and perform a repair install. How to repair Windows XP without losing your programs and data: http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm Afterwards, Go to the WindowsUpdate site for everything under Critical and Recommended: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com Then update your chipset, sound, video, monitor and other system drivers. If you want instructions let me know. :-) -- Cheers, Jimmy S. Thanks Jimmy!
SOme of the items you mentioned I had tried anf the the other I did try after your suggestion. To make a long story short, things went from bad to worst. I started to get boot problems, as soon as the memory test completed the computer would shutdown with a blue screen and a meesage such as 0X0000008E, or 0X00000007. I started booting from the XP CD to attempt a repair and the repair of XP took approximately 8 hours to complete, the computer was slower than an 8088. After the repair was complete I had to do a shutdown for some reason and could not get a reboot. The drive light blinks and the CD light blinks and power is on but the memory test does not take place and no display on monitor. I assume that my BIOS was corrupted and that a Virus is in the system even though McAfee says that it is clean. So I went out and got a new main board (ASUS A7V8X-X)and installed it, booted from the CD and did a repair to XP in approx 10 Minutes. All appears normal now. Have not shut down and rebooted yet????? If I get back up I will let you know. Again thanks for your assistance! >-----Original Message----- >Hi Voyager, > >I would boot from XP CD and perform a repair install. >How to repair Windows XP without losing your programs >and data: http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm >Afterwards, Go to the WindowsUpdate site for everything >under Critical and Recommended: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com > >Then update your chipset, sound, video, monitor and other >system drivers. Glad to help. I had to replace my motherboard recently
as well, so I can certainly feel your pain there. ;-) Cheers, Jimmy.
