Default Gearhead Garage

I am having a problem reinstalling Gearhead Garage.. I had this game
installed on my computer some time ago, and apparently the uninstall
left bits on the system, as the install is presently looking for an
install path that no longer exists on my computer. When I installed
the game the first time, I had a failed CD on my computer, and
installed the game from a networked drive... (that path no longer
exists).. However, when I now try to install the game from my Local CD
drive, the install program looks for the old install path, ( which it
cannot find) and generates an error, and closes... Does anyone know
where this game stores it's install path information on your
harddrive, and the name of the file it is stored in, so I can delete
said file and get this game installed?

Just see if a manual instllation method is available from the manufacturers
website or post a message to the forum:

Hi Mee,

Here's how to properly install or reinstall a game (and/or patch):

1. Backup any saved games and/or mods to a safe location.

2. Uninstall the game using Control Panel / Add-Remove programs.
* Manually delete the game folder or saved games if necessary.

3. Clear any references to the game leftover in your registry using:
http://www.webmasterfree.com/regcleaner.html

4. Click My Computer / Rightclick the Drive & Choose Properties
/ Run the "Disk Cleanup..." / Next Click the "Tools" Tab and run
the "Error-Checking" and "Defragmentation" utilities.

5. After a reboot close & exit your Antivirus and any other programs
using this method: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=331796

6. Install the game again from your original CD, do not use a backup.

7. Don't reuse the saved games/mods until you properly test the game.

Sorry Jimmy, this won't work, as I explained in my post. I do not
have an uninstall option anymore, nor will the game install.. I know
the proper procedure, but it is not applicable in this instance.

I have cleaned the registry, and removed all traces of the old install
I could find, but the game still will not install, as it continues to
look for an old and non-existant install *path*.

There is only one installation method available. Manual install is
not available... Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi,

Yup, I suggested using regcleaner for that very reason. It's
strange that it didn't resolve the issue, as it's a thorough program.
I think you might have to contact the vendors for this one as
they can pinpoint the exact file / location that you're looking for.

Well, unless it is hiding under something totally unrelated, I do not
think it is finding the old install path in the registry... There were
2 keys I found in registry related to GHG, which I did remove, without
fixing the problem....

I have posted previously to the "official" troubleshooting forum for
GHG, but they appear stumped also.
