Default crashing when printing

I am having a problem printing from my desktop with XP Pro
installed. The computer is fairly new and I performed a
clean install on a new HD for XP. I have a Epson printer
that prints through a USB connection. If I try to print
from my desktop the screen displays vertical bars and
freezes. I can print fine from my laptop which also has
XP Pro. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas what might
be causing it. I was thinking it might be a USB problem,
but wasn't sure how to go about checking.

It's unlikely to be a USB problem but far more probably the drivers have
become corrupted. Uninstall and reinstall using:

I'll give it a try. I had already tried uninstalling and
reinstalling from the disk, but maybe this will be
different.

I gave your idea a shot, but I ended up with the same
result. I checked event viewer and 5 seconds after the
print was initiated I have 2 log files stating that a
database engine failed. Went to the Microsoft link, but
that didn't seem too helpful.

A database engine? From what application are you printing? What model
Epson?

Appreciate the help. I ended up figuring it out after an
hour or two of playing with the settings last night. I
had configured spooling on one page but had not enabled it
on another. After that it's been working great.
