My machine will sometimes (not always) restart after it has been shutdown.
This is a new event. The OS is WINXP Pro SP2 but is not, in my opinion related to SP2 as the problem began several days after updating. The machine does not restart immediately, generally up to 5 minutes after shut down. Recent motherboard (Gigabyte GA8IPE1000G-Pro) I do not have a telephone line connected to the modem. My internet connection is via ethernet to an ADSL router. As far as I know no malware (Adaware 1.03, Spybot, Spywareblaster, NOD32 all up todate). Any suggestions of how to beat the gremlins? |

Check the BIOS settings, see if one of the devices (e.g. network adapter) is
allowed to wake up the computer. "Edward W. To further that, check in Windows and make sure you don't have any
scheduled tasks. Some of them may be allowed to turn on the computer to perform their task. For me, those items including recording TV and a weekly antivirus scan. ---- Nathan McNulty Peter wrote: > HI, > > Check the BIOS settings. > Have you enabled "wake on Lan" or any other similar features in BIOS? > > Peter > > > "Edward W.
