I broke of one of the RAM Module plastic locks, I reinsert the module, but
my computer didn't boot. Is there a problem with just inserting the module w/o locking it in place. I made sure the module was in tight, and I didn't lock the other side down, just in case I would tilt it. I hope there is no connection in that plastic lock. Maybe I should exchange the module I took out, with the one that was left in, just in case I screwed up the module, and the lock really has nothing to do with reading the memory. Any help is appreciated I have a Intel DB845GBV..........Many thanks in advance |

The lock itself has nothing to do with reading the ram it only holds the ram
in place. How did you break it, were you trying to install or uninstall the module, if so you might have damaged either the module or the motherboard where the memory plugs in. If you have another module to try in its place that will tell you if the motherboard is working. Also see if you can try the memory in another computer that will tell you if the module is working or not. Glen.......I guess that is the only thing left to do. I didn't describe the
details correctly. Once I took out the unsupported module, everything worked again. Yes, I was trying to exchange the module for a bigger one, that is when I broke the little hinged lock...........Thanks Glen "Glen" <homer@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:%23mtjz04REHA.3016@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > The lock itself has nothing to do with reading the ram it only holds the ram > in place. Sounds like the motherboard is not recognizing this memory module. If this
is an older type of motherboard, it may have some jumpers on motherboard that set the appropriate memory size. The other reason may be that the memory is not a correct type (not very likely) or possibly bad module. -- Pavel "PeterM" <rpm@NOSPAM.dcn.org> wrote in message news:EPudnREpXbvzFSHd4p2dnA@omsoft.com... > Glen.......I guess that is the only thing left to do.
