I have a Lexmark Z53 printer that I hooked up to my system
after doing a clean install of Windows XP. Windows saw the hardware device and downloaded / installed the driver for it. Unfortunately Windows installed only the basic driver, and to install the full Lexmark version, Lexmark indicates the basic version must first be uninstalled. I cannot figure out where / how to get at the basic driver currently in use to uninstall it. Lexmark hasn't been too helpful either. It is not accessible through Add Remove Programs, or Device Manager, or Start > Programs, or Printers > Z53 > Properties. The Printers > Z53 > Properties approach does have a means to "update" the driver, but that doesn't quite jibe with Lexmark's instructions for "replacing" the driver. The full version driver provides better print quality and some additional functionality. I'd really like appreciate any help in figuring this out. Thanks. |
