On control panel when looking at System properties the
CPU speed is shown as less that actual ( IBM T20 700 mhz ), what is also strange is that the cpu speed shown varies - some times as low as 125 mhz upto 697. The machine is running XP pro, and the hardware has the latest bios update from IBM. I have checked the CPU fan - and this is running fine so I do not suspect throttling back on cpu speed due to over heating. Any pointers would be very much appriciated. Cheers,,,, |

Lots of laptop power management works by under-clockinng the
CPU to save power. See IBMsspecs for your model.
