cd rom drive problem

If I insert a cd rom, say disc 1, it shows that in my
computer. If I remove that disc and insert disc 2, when I
go to my computer it still shows disc 1 as being there.
I can even explore the disc and see the files that are on
disc 1, but can't run them. It's almost like a virtual
drive was created. This just started happening, as there
was no problem before. Unfortunatley, I can't go back to
a restore point, as they seem to have been erased. No
viruses detected. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled
the cd rom.
