Have a Dell desktop running XP Pro with a number of USB devices. This
morning all devices are missing, as if they were not connected. Many reboots and reconnects, but no device of any sort is recognized. The same PC can boot other versions of XP and Windows from different partitions. All of these show all the devices, and each is working correctly. When I boot back into XP Pro, all are gone. Yesterday all were working fine. Today none. Any ideas? Ed |

If you open device manager, are there any errors associated with the USB
host controller or USB Root hub on the Windows XP OS wher you can repro the issues? Have you tried running a HDD checker utility and a memory (RAM) scan also...just to be sure? -- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. No errors of any sort, just zero ability to detect any connected USB
devices. I tried reinstalling, deinstalling, and then reinstalling SP1. Still no change. Disk checks also made no difference. One device, a USB CompactFlash ImageMate from SanDisk has a small light on the front, and it was on the entire time, but still no detection. that seems to say that power was available. Once I restored the system state from about 14 days ago, all came back.
