Default IO_ERR_BAD_BLOCK

I am getting the following error in EventViewer:
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 7
Source: Disk
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: IO_ERR_BAD_BLOCK
Message: The device, %1, has a bad block.

I have FireWire External HDD 250 GB that went bad.
And OS detect FireWire connection but does not get the
actual HDD context. Any idea what might be the problem ?
It just stoped working suddenly.

Default RE: IO_ERR_BAD_BLOCK

Hi

Either the Firewire port (PC or ext. harddisk rack) or the Ext. HDD has problems
Try to connect the ext. HDD to other PC and check
If the symthom persists, download disk utility from the HDD manufacturer's website and run it
Or connect the ext. HDD to other PC as slave drive and check again

Pete
