Is it possible to check if my computer is overheating.
My computer keeps on freezing. I thought it might be down to my new Broadband modem but this seems to work okay for the first hour or so when I turn the computer on. Once the computer has frozen it will repeatedly freeze within a shrot space of time, making me think the computer may be overheating. I'm not very technically minded so if anyone could give any advice it would be appreciated. Thanks |

Check with your motherboard's manufacturer, as many included software or have software you can download to monitor the temps.

Yes, you are probably correct. I was experiencing the
same type of problem with my 5-year old computer, which HAD been in a vertical position for 5 years, until recently when I got a new one and I laid the old one on its side. It turns out that when I re-oriented the old PC it was such that the motherboard was on the top surface (with the top of the expansion boards pointing to the bottom), and apparently both the CPU heatsink and fan came loose from the CPU itself. Anyway, just remove the case from your system unit and visually inspect the CPU's heatsink and fan -- it could be that the fan has just stopped working or is jammed with dust or a wire/cable/etc. >-----Original Message----- >Is it possible to check if my computer is overheating. >My computer keeps on freezing.
