SmartDisk FireLite HD Problems

Been using this Firelite for 2 months, then one day I turn on my puter and
the light on the HardDrive just flashes slowly, not flickering like it was
being accessed.
Im using XP PRO.....The harddrive is listed in device manager and says
everything is working properly....Ive tried uninstalling it and
restarting...Shows up again no problem in device manager, but still has the
slow flashing....the drive does not show up in windows explorer either..
Im no novice and have tried sooo many things to many to mention in here.
Every once in a while during startup the harddrive will flicker as its being
accessed and will show up in windows explorer, but as i go to access the
files on the drive the puter will hang/freeze until i unplug the drive.

Any info would be gratefully appreciated...
