Default Sound stopped working on my HP w/ riptide

I am using an HP 8750c and the sound has always worked
fine but all of the sudden upon restart I got the message:

Resource Conflict

PCI Slot 02

Bus: 01 Device:09 Function:02

When I look at device manager it has two listings for
Riptide Bus/Firmware Downloader the one with an
exclamation point next to it is the one listed above and
the other one is at Function: 0 and is working fine. The
sound started working one day just randomly but has since
then the sound has not worked and I don't know what to do.

I have tried reinstalling drivers and doing a system
restore with no luck. I don't know how to stop the
conflicting thing from loading or somehow stopping it from
working. Thanks in advance, email if you have any further
questions.

try just movingthe sound card to another pci slot to force xp to find it
again ,often works.
