Default dvd player not recognized by XP

I had a HP Pavillion with ME. Upgraded to XP, no problem. Recently upgraded mobo, ram, cpu. Using same cd-rw, dvd, hdd. The bios recognizes the hdd as master on IDE 1, and recognizes cd-rw as master and dvd as slave on IDE 2. This is the same set up I had in the HP where it worked fine. Now, XP does not recognize the DVD player and it does not show up in device manager. How do I get this working?

Default RE: dvd player not recognized by XP

Hi

First, go to device manager and uninstall the DVD and CD/RW roms then shutdown windows
Unplug the AC power cable then open the chassis, disconnet the DVD and CD/RW roms. Set the jumpers for DVD rom as master and CD/RW as slave
Note: Always set the faster drive as master and the slower drive as slave
Reconnect the IDE cables and power cables firmly and correctly
Restart the PC and boot into BIOS, make sure UDMA mode is enabled for the secondary IDE devices
Save the settings and let windows load
XP should recognise the DVD and CD/RW roms and reload the drivers

Hope it helps

Pete
