Hello.
After a few years of running the same setup, two days ago I developed a problem. My mouse, after varying lengths of time will just freeze on my desktop or whatever application I am running. I have tried downloading the newest drivers for the product to no avail. I am currently running Win 98 Delux Plus, which is old, and have decided to upgrade to XP. I don't know if this will help with the mouse problem but since I have decided to do this anyway I have a question. Would I be better off buying an upgrade or buying the complete version of XP? If I buy the full version do I just pop this in and install (Will it replace the 98?) or do I have to take 98 off? Would the upgrade replace files dealing with my mouse? (in case that's the problem) The reason I am looking to my OS as the culprit is over the last month or so my cursor has begun to do strange things..blinking, changing to a blinking hourglass while just sitting still on the desktop, moving in opposite directions from the way I move the mouse etc,. Also when running some applications I get two cursors. A custom cursor for the program and the standard Windows cursor sitting up in the corner not moving. Does this sound more like a mouse, HD, or OS problem? I am inclined to replace all three at this point but thought maybe someone much more computer savvy then myself can help out. Here are my specs: Amd Athlon 1600xp 512 mb ram GF2 ti (this is old as well..could this be it?) Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer SB LIve I have also Disabled all power saving options, thought that might be it at first but the mouse lock-up seems more random now. If anyone can help out or send me somewhere else more suited I'd appriciate it. Thanks Jason |

This is the most important thing. After Windows boots I get the msg: Cannot Find Required .DLL File MSH_ZWF.DLL I had been getting a missing DLL msg since installing my DSL Software. Verizon Tech told me it was not required but I think that this is a different msg. I just noticed it today. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.556 / Virus Database: 348 - Release Date: 12/26/03 |

I used to have to replace my mouse after about 18mnths
It is not reccommended to update an o/s to overcome a problem unless that problem is specifically linked to the o/s. The general recommendation when changing the o/s is to do a clean install I believe the XP upgrade only requires access to the earlier o/s disk, as apposed to having it installed, but you might want to check this point David "news.verizon.net" <kelly.gasper@verizon.net> wrote in message news:Iq0Mb.1860$Qq.404@nwrdny01.gnilink.net... > Hello. > > After a few years of running the same setup, two days ago I developed a > problem. Try reinstalling your Intellipoint software.
The file you are referring is a file from the Intellipoint software. -- Jason Tsang - Microsoft MVP Find out about the MS MVP Program - http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/default.aspx "news.verizon.net" <kelly.gasper@verizon.net> wrote in message news:wD0Mb.1877$Qq.543@nwrdny01.gnilink.net... > > This is the most important thing.
