Default seems that new virus w/32 etc has corrupted my computer because...

hello ive been infected by the new w/32 virus and i have
cleaned it up, but as an aftermath my profile was lost in
the process. I then moved my programs etc into a newly
created account. When i downloaded updates for my
computer and then restarted my computer. It surprisingly
took over 5 mins while normally it would take 2 mins to
load the profile login page. I am hoping this is not a
serious problem but would anyone who has anything to
contribute please do so

Are you sure that the virus has been removed. What virus software are
you using? New user profiles are created from the ALL USERS folder and
the DEFAULT USERS folder. Its possible the virus damaged these folders.
So creating a new profile from these corrupted folders could make
matters worse.

Try running SFC /scannow from the run dialog box(with the XP cd in the
drive)in case winlogon.exe or services.exe has been damaged. It may also
just be a stubborn startup program or service that refuses to load in a
timely manner.
