sony clie will not connect to pc - unknown device

Sony Clie nx70 previously functioned ok, usb connection
initial install perfect. 3 weeks ago, acquired,
broadband, and got all xp updates. Around same time -
maybe coincidence - clie stopped being able to synch.
Error message unknown device. Spent 3 hrs on phone w/Sony
support trying to get xp to recognize sony drivers but no
avail.(tried acquiring from disk, hard drive, etc... can
see the correct driver - per sony specialist - when
pointing installer to sony handheld directory, but still
comes up as unrecognized, code 10/45 etc...)
Sometimes could get sony handheld into list of usb
devices, but either code 45 (resynching still wouldn't
work) or code 10, device won't start, appeared. Have
installed/uninstalled multiple times (ea. time deleting
old remnant files), tried switching usb ports, tried on
another computer, all to same results - unknown device -
or sony handheld with codes 10 or 45. Even tried running
ms export on pc, and import on clie to keep attempt at
contact going longer than usual synch cycle - again no
luck. Have completely run out of ideas. Anybody out there
with a few more???

you said"tried on another computer,"and would not work. DId you try hard reset on clie
My problem with mine is can't play clie movies on pc as yet,good luck on reset.
