Service.exe. is going to have to close internet explorer

When I log on I get a message that service exe. is having
to close you may loose information. etc.
It asked to send a report to Microsoft.
I can close the box and continue working but dont
understand what service exe. is and what the problem
might be and how to corrrect it.
