Default Keyboard slow when key is held down

I have been noticing on a couple of my XP-Pro machines
that when I hold a keyboard key down for extended periods
(I.E. - up arrow which makes the guy run in a game) that
there is either a long delay or complete stop. I'm
running the latest service pack and all patches have been
applied (both critical and regular). The problem does
not occur on all machines (all have the same OS and
updates). The one thing that I did notice is that the
two machines that have the problem are both HyperThread
machines.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
and Happy Holidays to all

Bob, please check the Keyboard Properties in the Control Panel to adjust the
settings for the delay for repeat keys.

You could also check your Filter Keys is off. That also slows the key rate.
