Using a Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard and Mouse with WinXP...
This happens to me every time I change the mouse's batteries. 1. Upon installation of batteries, mouse is dead. 2. Press mouse's "Connect" button. Nothing happens. 3. Look at underside of mouse and decipher hieroglyphics indicating that I'm supposed to press a button on the receiver. 4. Press button on receiver. Wait for pretty flashing lights to stop flashing. Press mouse's "Connect button". Nothing happens. 5. Reboot several times while repeating steps 2-4. Optionally attach a mouse to PS/2 port to facilitate use of computer, which is pretty hard to use without a mouse. 6. Finally remember that you're supposed to press the connect buttons *WHILE* the lights are flashing. And Step 7: 7. Write this down somewhere so that you remember it the next time you have to change the batteries. Done. -- Bob Kanyak's Doghouse http://kanyak.com |
